We are not the new kid on the block, we were established in 2013 and have been disrupting the Broadband industry in London since then. Some recent key achievements include:


  • We raised £400m investment in 2020 from large institutions to secure our ambitious growth plans.
  • We have acquired over 500,000 wayleaves across Local Authorities, Housing Associations and Private Landlords in London to support that growth.
  • We have deployed our 100% full fibre network to over 300,000 premises to deliver the growth, which is rapidly moving towards 1 million in 2023.

Job purpose:


  • The Senior Network Automation Engineer is  responsible for the creation and improvement of automated provisioning and troubleshooting software .
  • Tool development to underpin multiple business processes, e.g. Change and Incident Management
  • Develop and continuously improve our automation platform to be scalable, reliable, resilient and cost efficient
  • Integrate our automation platform with other OSS/BSS (monitoring, asset management, customer relation management, etc.)
  • This is primarily a software development role, though solid understanding of IP and optical networks is mandatory
  • You will help scale our Engineering function at an exciting time in our growth.
  •  You will take our automation process to the next level with the opportunity to make a huge impact on our product agility and quality.


What you’ll be doing:


  • Capture business and technical requirements
  • Write and manage the network automation software code, bug fixing
  • Generate network configurations from templates
  • Automate the network configuration verification
  • Automate saving network configurations
  • System integration using REST APIs
  • Write unit tests
  • Create CI/CD pipelines
  • Process network events from monitoring systems
  • Create and update documentation
  • Analyse the technical architecture of systems and applications to understand dependencies, points of failure, impacts, to provide recommendations for infrastructure, system and applications


The experience we’re looking for you to bring:


  • Software development background
  • Understanding OOP
  • Understanding databases (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages used for Network Automation
  • Experience with REST APIs
  • Understanding of IP and optical networks, routing protocols
  • Understanding network management configurations (AAA, SNMP, NTP, ACLs)
  • Understanding network security, firewalls, security groups
  • Strong Linux experience
  • Ansible
  • Version control systems (we use GitLab)
  • Monitoring systems, e.g. Nagios, Zabbix, Icinga, Grafana, or similar
  • Experience with network automation using SSH and CLI
  • CLI scraping and regular expressions
  • Experience with virtual machines (e.g. KVM , VMware, Proxmox, AWS EC2 or similar)

 

Desirable:


  • Docker
  • Elasticsearch
  • Network Configuration Protocols (NETCONF, REST-CONF)
  • Templating (Jinja2)
  • Experience with AWS
  • CCNA/JNCIA/CCNP/JNICIP levels desirable
  • Experience with frontend development (JavaScript, CSS, HTML)
  • Experience implementing technologies with a focus on operability, reliability, and scalability
  • Ability to oversee and mentor team members
  • Ability to keep up with software development trends and innovation
