Job purpose:

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for financial close at month end, completing key reconciliations, undertaking spend analysis and tracking inventory and assets. In addition to taking ownership of payroll and VAT, liaising with HMRC directly where needed.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Financial Month end:
    • Support preparation of month end accounts, undertaking balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals and prepayment analysis
    • Maintaining up to date account reconciliations for key accounts, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items and constant process improvement
    • Support preparation of monthly cost reporting and take responsibility for improving the data, in particular the tracking of fixed assets
  • Take responsibility for key financial processes:
    • Preparation of monthly payroll, including all queries with HMRC. Leasing with staff in the business to obtain overtime and commission information
    • Analysis of monthly spend and submission of VAT returns
  • Asset and stock tracking
    • Responsible for developing detailed asset tracking, ensure assets are classified to the correct location and project
    • Develop inventory tracking process for materials held by contractors
    • Develop process for tracking customer routers
  • Other:
    • Support implementation of new accounting software (MS Dynamics), including completing analysing and transferring data between systems
    • Set up process to track contractor payment retentions, monitoring this against ongoing network repairs
    • Take ownership of BT account, tracking payments and repairs required for damage to our network
    • Provide guidance on the FRS 102 accounting rules, focusing on fixed assets
    • Support the year end audit and investor due diligence 

 

The experience we’re looking for you to bring:

  • Ambitious, keen to get hands on experience in a fast-changing start-up environment
  • Newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Strong academics, degree (2:1) or similar
  • Experience in top 10 audit firm/professional services firm, large corporate or start-up
  • Ambitious, keen to get hands on experience in a fast-changing start-up environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Detail oriented and experienced in follow-through and completion of projects
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Interest in technology industry
